What is the Divi Builder?

Divi is a website feature that allows you to easily build a page. This can be enabled on every new page that is created in your WordPress environment. Divi uses 3 types of building blocks, namely:

  • Sections
  • Rows
  • Modules

These 3 building blocks ensure that the page is published in the correct structure. These blocks also automatically adjust well on mobile, so you don’t need to create a separate, new page for mobile. This is because Divi uses a grid.

Divi grid

Because Divi uses a grid, it’s easy to divide a row into different blocks. For instance, you can allocate 2/3 (66.66% wide) of a row for text and then 1/3 (33.33%) of the row for, say, an image.

Green = the row
Gray = the module

Sections, Rows, and Modules

Divi uses sections, rows, and modules. With these blocks, you can construct a page. Sections are Divi’s largest building blocks and can contain rows. Because Divi uses a grid, you can assign multiple columns to rows. A module can then be added to a column.

Sections

The largest basic block of Divi, used for a page, is a section. You should add this first to a new page when the Divi construction feature is activated. These sections are blocks that span the entire width of the page. The height of a section is then determined by how many rows are used in the section and how much content a specific module contains.

Rows

Rows are used within sections. You can add multiple rows to one section. A row then has several columns, which you can indicate as shown in the picture next to this. As soon as a row is added, you get the option to specify the size of the columns in this row. Once the row’s structure is chosen, it is added to the section. Then you can add modules to these columns. If desired, you can add multiple modules to each column.

Modules

Modules are the content elements that can be added to the columns. There are various modules, including the text and image modules, which are often used when constructing a page.
